A woman tragically passed away at a Durga Puja pandal in the Behala area of South Kolkata, as reported by local authorities. The incident occurred around midnight on Monday when Sangita Rana, a resident of Haridevpur, visited the Nutan Dal Puja pandal.
Shortly after viewing the Durga idol, she collapsed near the exit of the pandal. According to a police official, personnel on duty immediately administered CPR. However, her condition deteriorated, prompting her transfer to a nearby hospital via a green corridor, where she was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Health Concerns and Allegations
It was noted that the woman had a history of asthma. A relative of Sangita alleged that repeated requests for oxygen assistance were ignored by the police, and the ambulance that arrived lacked the necessary oxygen facilities.
